It’s release day for A Modest Independence, Book 2 in my USA Today bestselling Parish Orphans of Devon series! To celebrate, the eBook price is reduced to just $2.99 for the entire week. I’ll also be embarking on a virtual book tour next week, complete with reviews, interviews, and a special giveaway.
A Modest Independence follows the journey of former lady’s companion Jenny Holloway and solicitor Tom Finchley as they travel from England to India (via steamships, railways, dak carts, and bullock trains) in search of the missing Earl of Castleton. This book is a little different from my other books—larger in scope and in personal meaning. I don’t want to give away too much, except to say that the journey the characters go on is as much emotional as it is physical. I’ll also say that Egypt and India are not merely exotic backdrops to Tom and Jenny’s love story. More on that in a future post!
A Modest Independence is available in eBook and paperback wherever books are sold. The audiobook version will be coming soon from Audible Studios.

A Modest Independence FAQ
Q: Do Helena and Justin (from The Matrimonial Advertisement) appear in this book?
A: Both appear briefly toward the end of the story.
Q: When will the next Parish Orphans of Devon book be out and who will it feature?
A: The next Parish Orphans book, A Convenient Fiction, should be out in Fall of 2019. Set partially in France, it’s—you guessed it—a marriage of convenience romance, featuring Alex Archer. Neville’s book should be out closer to Christmas.
Q: Will Ahmad and Mira get their own books?
A: Yes! Ahmad is the hero in the first book of a new (secret) series I’ll be writing after I finish the Parish Orphans of Devon series. With any luck, his book will be out in early 2020. Mira will be in it as well.
