A Few Words on Disappearing Posts…

The Letter by Jan van Beers, 1885.

Some of you may have noticed that my archive of articles on Victorian fashion and beauty has recently become a bit thinner. I know that many of those articles—specifically my Victorian Lady’s Guides and my Visual Guides to Victorian Fashion series—were incredibly popular, so I thought I’d take a brief moment to explain what has happened to them.

The fact is, some of those articles have bits of research in them which I’ve substantially expanded on for my upcoming book, A Victorian Lady’s Guide to Fashion and Beauty. I’ve been meaning to remove those bits and let the rest of each article stand, but I simply haven’t had the time. Instead, I’ve temporarily set some of my fashion and beauty articles to “Private.” Which means that no one can see them anymore but me.

The good news is, I have just completed A Victorian Lady’s Guide to Fashion and Beauty and I will finally have a few spare moments to start going through those articles. They should all be available again soon. I apologize for any inconvenience you experience in the meantime!
